"One of my favourite releases of 2022 was the bleak windswept EP from Finnish one-man band Nimetön Hauta, and this full length album feels like it will remain on my regular listening list for this year too.

Radiant black metal with a burning melancholy that would melt the tundra of the landscapes it paints, were it not also chilled to the core with an icy coolness itself. The layered guitar tones bite deep, the drums march with a stoic earthiness, and the hoarse vocals of T burrow into the centre of a sound coarsened with a wild rawness, yet humming with vivid clarity. The quintessential black metal sound of winter forests and misty lakes."

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke
