c o n j u r supremely beautiful, melancholic black metal with hints of post rock and avant-jazz. incredible song writing. the drums are absolutely incredible and sit perfectly in the mix. gentle, yet intense bass lines (that I find lacking in many atmospheric black metal releases). melodic in all the right places, with some crushing ready-for-battle passages sprinkled in. 10/10 Favorite track: Séquies i Bancals II.

maximilianstrauss A light keyboard intermezzo reinforced by a guitar introduces you, through hypnotic minimalism, to a sharp and commanding avant-garde atmosphere that screams and leads you forward. The vocals are very well combined with the atmosphere of the album you are listening to. From a quiet voice to a scream, with its sharpness, avant-garde and unusual melodies, it takes you through itself. The atmosphere is superb!!!

YomaBarr Funny one. This is like a black metal kid that wants to grow up. The album, I mean, not the musician! Good for a Friday evening after a long week, and after you just listened to Eternal Rot ;)
And Séquies i Bancals III is practically dark jazz which is nice.

about

"Canti Eretici always has a superbly curated set of releases in each batch of tapes, and every set comes with some artists offering inventive and riveting takes on the genre, but this month’s albums feature this particularly compelling gem – the debut full length album from Spain’s Malva Silvestre.

A one-man band offering a kaleidoscope of melodic black metal; ornate and elegant in structure and poise with an enveloping atmosphere, yet cold and cruel with an icy indifference like the oft-vaunted Emperor albums. This is richly composed traditional black metal, mixing introspective passages of solitude, with expansive, fiery misanthropic rage and orchestral drama, accompanied by choral vocals, flourishes of neoclassical influences and folk music from the artist’s Valencia homelands."
